Detailed Explanation of Rubber Vulcanization Process: Core Correlation Between Temperature Control and Quality Stability

04 Jun 2026

Vulcanization is the most critical process in rubber manufacturing, which transforms soft, plastic raw rubber into elastic, durable and stable finished products. Precise temperature control during vulcanization directly determines the physical performance, dimensional stability and service life of rubber hoses, seals and custom rubber parts, becoming the core standard to distinguish high-quality rubber products.

Vulcanization temperature is the key to forming rubber molecular cross-linking structures. Each rubber material has its exclusive curing temperature range. EPDM and NBR adopt a conventional vulcanization temperature of 140℃-160℃ to ensure uniform cross-linking. Silicone rubber requires 160℃-180℃ primary vulcanization and high-temperature secondary vulcanization to eliminate residual impurities. FKM fluororubber needs higher temperature curing to achieve excellent heat and corrosion resistance.

Unreasonable temperature control will cause irreversible quality defects. Excessively high temperature leads to rubber scorching, surface cracking, increased hardness and reduced toughness. Too low temperature results in insufficient vulcanization, incomplete molecular cross-linking, poor compression resistance, easy deformation and aging failure of products.

To achieve consistent quality, we adopt full-process constant temperature control and staged heating vulcanization technology. Combined with IATF16949 quality management system, we standardize temperature, pressure and time parameters for different rubber materials and product specifications. Real-time temperature monitoring and batch sampling tests effectively eliminate product performance differences.

Scientific vulcanization temperature management ensures stable elasticity, sealing performance, aging resistance and dimensional accuracy of finished products. It greatly reduces product failure rates and maintenance costs for automotive, industrial and HVAC equipment. We rely on precise process control to provide global buyers with high-stability, long-service-life rubber solutions.
